Some very exciting stuff happened this past week, but I don’t know if I should talk about it yet. I’ll dish out the general information: I was interviewed by a major online tech publication and accepted into a probationary period of paid freelancing. I’ve written two short articles for them (both of which are live on their site right now under a pseudonym) and am currently working on the first draft of a long-form piece. If all goes well, I’ll be on their team and what I’ve written for them already will be switched to my byline.
I wish I could tell you the name of the site, but I don’t want to mess anything up until everything’s official. Though I will say this: the chances are good that if you’re a fan of tech, you’ve been to the site before and will know it by name! Hopefully, by next week’s blog post here at cscottbrown.net, I’ll be able to divulge the info.
I also was commissioned to do an interview article about the owner of a real estate marketing business. He was a real nice guy and an easy interview subject, so that will be a fun piece of writing. I’ll be working on that over the next few days.
One last cool thing that’s happened business-wise this past week is that I got interviewed to write for a men’s dating help site. For that, I would be writing articles that will help men get over some of their insecurities when it comes to dating. The guy I talked to was super nice, and the fact that their company is geared as the opposite of the pick-up culture nonsense that I hate, made me feel comfortable working with them. Hopefully, I’ll hear back from them soon!
Holidays are right around the corner, which means lots of holiday parties! As such, my girlfriend and I went to an ugly sweater party this past week. It was a lot of fun! I didn’t win the prize for ugliest sweater, but I came in a respectable second place. You can see my almost-prize-winning look in the photo at the top of this page.
Keep your fingers crossed that I’ll have lots of good news to tell you about next week!
